Online Shopping is becoming popular than before!

In the first days of the COVID-19 pandemic, super-markets, retail stores in Sri Lanka were overloaded and failed to meet the sudden demand. People were buying and emptying many super-markets in suburban areas. Also, we could see some people were buying too many toilet papers in some regions.

The situation is rapidly changing. People have to keep social distancing. Restaurants, bars, movie theaters, and gyms in many major cities are shutting down. Meanwhile, many office workers are facing new challenges of working from home full time.

Online shopping needs to be supported by a robust logistics system. In-person delivery is not virus-proof. Many delivery companies and restaurants in the US and China are launching contactless delivery services where goods are picked up and dropped off at a designated location. Chinese e-commerce giants are also ramping up their development of robot deliveries.
